The story of a passionate pianist & composer, Andrew Gerard
Hello, my name is Andrew Gerard. I am a composer & pianist based in Pondicherry, India. Andrew’s Piano is the name that found its source from my YouTube channel, “Andrew’s Piano”. This went on to further become the name of my blog & my other social media accounts as well. From early on, in my career, I always had an awe and a passion towards Music & Piano. I felt like Piano is something that always existed within me all along, making me also feel like the piano keys are connected to my fingers.
This thought & the dream later slowly changed into action through my piano playing and I started experiencing & expressing myself via the piano in more subtler and bold ways. I later decided to dedicate my time towards music through captivating performances and by sharing the knowledge and passion for piano with fellow musicians and music lovers. With the years of experience in playing piano, I decided to start this blog to share the wealth of musical knowledge that I had been offered by the universe.
In this blog, I share my knowledge about music as a whole and also narrow the knowledge down into piano scales, modes, chords, songs, etc. I also try to span out into various genres, ensuring there’s something for every music lover.
My Background
I was born in Pondicherry (a creative, cultural hub – thanks Auroville, an International Community), India in 1989 and grew up as a single child. At the age of 6, I started playing songs on my small Casio keyboard gifted by one of our friends, without any prior class or introduction to piano. My parents later signed me up for formal music education. I later realised that I could go farther if I am self taught.
I then graduated in Commerce, pursued French to take a job for 6 years. I then decided to pursue my career in music & online entrepreneurship. However, while on job, I yet did music programs & compositions wherever I could. This long journey has now led me to start working in Andrew’s Piano full time along with other entrepreneurial projects online.
